The Fleet Feet Sports FITLOSOPHY™ is our commitment to the concept of a proper FIT in all aspects of our lives - from our commitment to helping you find the proper FIT for your running shoes to assisting you in determining how running, walking, or an active lifestyle fits into your life. Simply stated, FITLOSOPHY™ is our FIT Philosophy and our approach to everything we do. Our process begins by ensuring that runners and walkers of all abilities and ages are fit with the proper footwear, sports bras and technical apparel to meet their individual needs.  For us, FIT is everything.


We provide the complete FIT.  We can also help you find solutions for inserts, socks, and sports bras!  Once all of that is taken care of, don't forget about apparel and accessories! Wearing the right apparel and gearing up with the right accessories can make your fitness experience a lot more enjoyable and successful!

The FIT Process is Personal Experience: It's About You.

Step One: Getting to Know You
We listen carefully to your needs, take into consideration any aches and pains, and evaluate your experience with your current footwear.  We want to know everything can about your prior shoes, fitting experiences, and what you plan on doing with your new pair.  The more we learn about you, the better.

Step Two: Measurement
Several measurements of each foot help us determine proper sizing and overall fit. We record both un-weighted (seated) and weighted (standing) measurements as well as different point to point measurements. We will take a look at your feet for signs that will help us fit you properly and determine any special needs.  The overall shape of your foot will often times tell us the most about which shoes would be a good fit.

Step Three: Gait Observation
We’ll observe your foot in motion. This helps us determine how you move and the biomechanics of your gait. We don't just watch your feet!  To truly understand your biomechanics, we will observe your ankles, knees, and hips, as well as your feet.  This means we might ask you to walk for us a few times.

Step Four: Fitting and Recommendations
Based on our findings, we will present a few shoes that may work best for you. We’ll carefully inspect the fit and watch as you run or walk in each shoe. We’ll discuss the options, provide you with our recommendations and answer any questions.  We want to know your thoughts, tell us how they feel.  Small adjustments with each shoe can be made to taylor the shoe specifically to your foot.  We may even recommend additional products to completely personalize the shoe's fit to your arch, heal, or forefoot. At this point it's all about your comfort, we are aiming for 10/10!

Step Five: The Decision
This one is all you since you are the only person who knows how the shoes actually feel.  Ultimately you decide what is best for you.  At this point  we are just here to encourage good decisions and offer suggestions.  

Step Six: Ready to Go
Now that you’ve made a decision, we want to make sure that you know we are committed to taking care of your additional or future needs. We believe FIT is more about just shoes.  As you work with your FIT Specialist they may offer recommendations on things like socks, sports bras, anti-chaffee ointments etc.  This is the time when we will make sure all of your needs are taken care of.
